Times are good for Hugh with Australia doing well at the Box Office, a few tips that he might find himself nominated at the Oscars in one way or another and Wolverine building up hype. And now it’s been announced that in a change from the usual format, Hugh will host the 2009 Academy Awards!
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Hugh Jackman will host the 81st annual Oscars, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences confirmed Friday.Jackman, a triple-threat actor, singer and dancer who was recently named People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive,” has awards-show host experience, and to good effect: He won an Emmy in 2005 for hosting the 58th annual Tony Awards in 2004, when he also took a best-actor Tony for his performance in the musical “The Boy From Oz.”
Telecast producers Laurence Mark and Bill Condon called the Australian actor “a consummate entertainer and an internationally renowned movie star.”
“He also has style, elegance and a sense of occasion,” Mark and Condon said in a joint statement. “Hugh is the ideal choice to host a celebration of the year’s movies — and to have fun doing it.” Read more on Associated Press
Lieber Hugh, ich habe heute Wetten Dass angeschaut und ich möchte einfach nur sagen das ich es toll finde das ein so Populärer Mann wie Du es jetzt bist, sich so viel Zeit genommen hat um in einer Deutschen Sendung erstens aufzutreten und dann auch bis zum Schluß zu bleiben.
Es sollten sich viele US Schauspieler einen Teil davon abschneiden.
Habe mir vorgenommen mit meinem Mann “Australia” anzuschauen.

TWO of America’s biggest papers slam Hugh Jackman’s choice as Oscars host, saying the Australia star lacks substance.
Dear Hugh Jackman:
We watched the Academy Awards Show this evening and want you to know that you were the “Star of the Show”! We have watched the Awards shows for many years and this was by far the best Oscar awards show we have ever watched. It was entertaining, fast moving, informative and and in no way boring as were many previous shows. The speeches were short and acceptable. but above all your performance as host was the key factor in making the show a success. Your talent, humor, dancing and singing gave the whole long program a light heartedness and fast pace, that has been missing in past shows, which were often hosted by comedians, whose jokes were not always successful or appropriate. Congratulations for an excellent performance as host. You have resurected the whole Oscar awards ceremonies and made them worthwhile watching again. We wish you continued success in your career and are looking forward to seeing you again as a major all-round entertainer. We loved your singing and dancing!
