Synopsis: Gabriel Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman), whose monster hunting services are secretly employed by the Vatican, is sent to Transylvania on a mission to protect the Valerious siblings Anna (Kate Beckinsale) and Velkan (Will Kemp) from Count Dracula (Richard Roxburgh) and his minions, accompanied by the rather reluctant friar, Carl (David Wenham).

Personal comments: The problem with Van Helsing is that it's not a very memorable film. Despite its impressive and talented cast - Hugh, Kate, Richard, David - there is very little originality in the movie. As an action/horror movie it was rather naive and the target audience seemed thus rather young, but it had its moments nonetheless, and Hugh fit in his role rather well as did the other cast members (though Kate's Transylvanian "accent" was horribly corny).
