Spend a day with Hugh!

Charitybuzz is auctioning a day on the set of X-Men Origins: Wolverine with Hugh Jackman for up for 2 people in Australia where filming begins January 2008.

The chance to spend a day with Hugh is being auctioned to raise money for Bette Midler’s New York Restoration Project (NYRP). NYRP partners with individuals, community-based groups, and public agencies to reclaim, restore, and develop under-resourced parks, community gardens, and open space in New York City, primarily in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods.

Wolverine

Hugh’s next turn as Wolverine from the X-Men franchise has been give it’s official title of X-Men Origins: Wolverine and a release date of May 1st 2009. Mark your calendars!

Hugh in The Hobbit?

In a panel at Dragon*Con, Hugh was named as one of the possibilities to play Bard along with Clive Owen and Gerard Butler. They’re purely throwing names out there at the moment but we’ll let you know if there’s any confirmation.

Wolverine, Theatre and Well-Dressed Hugh

Hugh’s next project, Wolverine, he follow-up to the X-Men trilogy is currently in pre-production and will begin filming this November in Sydney with Gavin Hood directing. Speaking to TheXverse.com, IESB’s staff says the following:

Fox is planning to debut some of the most beloved mutants from the X-Universe in [Wolverine]. I can’t divulge which mutant will make his/her big screen debut but all I will say that it’s my favorite mutant ever.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Hugh will be treading the boards next year for the prestigious Sydney Theatre Company in an as-yet-unrevealed play:

I spent four years training in drama which I haven’t actually done…I love the immediacy of the theatre … I want to do a straight play and there are moves afoot.

Viva Laughlin and Scream 2007 Awards

Hugh’s latest TV project, Viva Laughlin, will preview on October 18th before premiering on October 21st (7/8pm, CBS) but already rumours are circulating that the show may be cancelled. It’s a drama and a musical in one; Hugh is the executive producer of the show as well as playing bad guy Nicky Fontana but critics have called it “a mess” and it’s already ready been voted worst TV show. Here’s hoping opinions improve once it airs.

In more positive news, Hugh has been nominated in the Scream 2007 awards for his role in The Fountain. The film is nominated for Best Sci-Fi Film (as is another of Hugh’s films, The Prestige)whilst Hugh and co-star Rachel are nominated for Sci-Fi Star and Sci-Fi Siren respectively. Voting will be open tomorrow at scream.spiketv.com until October 19th when the awards ceremony will take place.
